The reason that we work on our subconscious mind is that we have received many bad conditioning or conditioned reflexes in the past, and these conditioning or conditioned reflexes reside in our subconscious mind, they often sabotage us from realizing our goal, therefore we have to deal with it.
Our conscious mind can think logically and rationally. However, our subconscious mind is a reservoir of past conditioning(or conditioned reflexes). Our conscious mind may be in conflict with our subconscious mind, because our past conditioning(or conditioned reflexes) is not always rational. Whenever our conscious mind is in conflict with our subconscious mind, our subconscious mind acts as a stumbling block to us, therefore we need to clear the stumbling blocks(or bad past conditioning, bad conditioned reflexes) in our subconscious mind.
Also sometimes we need to calmly think or ponder how to realize a goal, if there are negative emotions generating from our subconscious mind, it will interfere in our thinking at our conscious level. Therefore we need to clear this conditioning or conditioned reflexes.
When we travel to the future and visualize we have already realized our goal and practice appreciation or gratitude, our subconscious mind accepts this "fact" and will not sabotage us when we're in the process of realizing our goal. Moreover, it may keep eyes open for possibilities or opportunities that could help us realize our goal.
